What New Moms Need to Know Before Booking That Appointment
At bŏdze, we believe that looking and feeling your best should never come at the expense of you or your child’s well-being. If you’re a new mom eager to return to your wrinkle relaxer routine, it’s only natural to wonder: Can I get Botox while I’m breastfeeding?
Let’s take a closer look at what medical experts say and why a little patience might be the best approach.
The Short Answer: It’s Not Recommended
While wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify are widely used for softening fine lines and restoring a refreshed look, they are not recommended during breastfeeding. This isn’t because we know they are harmful, it’s because we simply don’t know enough.
Botulinum toxin, the active ingredient in these treatments, hasn’t been thoroughly studied in breastfeeding individuals. For ethical and safety reasons, most clinical trials avoid involving pregnant or nursing patients. As a result, there’s no solid data on whether small doses of this neurotoxin might pass into breast milk or affect your baby in any way.
And when it comes to the safety of your child, uncertainty alone is enough reason to pause.

Why Some Consider It “Low Risk” But Still Not Worth It
You might come across anecdotes or opinions suggesting that cosmetic Botox poses little to no risk while breastfeeding. After all, the doses used for aesthetic purposes are extremely small and remain localized under the skin.
But “low risk” doesn’t mean no risk.
Even if there have been no widely reported complications in nursing mothers receiving Botox, the lack of documented cases doesn’t mean it’s 100% safe. Responsible providers, including our own team at bŏdze, prefer to err on the side of caution when it comes to your and your baby’s health.
